My 740 Turbo was running like butt and it had a massive fuel economy problem.

Refurbishing the injectors and changing the fuel filter helped.

Afterwards, there was a lot less hesitation, particularly when cold. I suspect the old injector seals were acting as a bit of a vacuum leak and the fuel filter probably hadn’t been changed in 15 years.

It’s not something you’d do often, but if you’ve got an old set of injectors, it’d be worth doing this and combining it with an ultrasonic clean if you can get it done cheap. This is particularly relevant for a car like this, where a replacement set of injectors in Aus would have cost me from $200-400.

Nice! I actually wasn’t even aware such a thing could be done to injectors.

I assume that that the amount of fuel delivered to the engine would be the same if you had a pressure leak, meaning you would run rich. Maybe an answer. Did this system had a fuel pressure richening mechanism for cold running? Maybe it is stuck that would explain it.

I sent mine off to a place to have them rebuilt and flow matched. cost me $100 for 6. worth it.

I should probably do both these things to my Jaguar also. It really runs fine with no hesitation but the consumption is bad (about 13, should be closer to 18, though I pretty much floor it every time). I feel like it is a little low on power too.

No trouble starting really but it cranks a bit long sometimes, especially hot restarts.

It's cheap and hard to mess up, so I'd recommend it. Definitely do the fuel filter too.

Niiiice. I couldn't find a place down this way to do it, I want to get an ultrasonic cleaner one day.
